About Kate

Kate Vernon

Veteran TV and film actress Kate Vernon was born in Canada in 1961. She moved to Los Angeles at the age of 7 when the career of her father (character actor John Vernon – best known as Dean Wormer from National Lampoon's Animal House and as Fletcher in The Outlaw Josey Wales) began to take off.

Kate found acting success in the early '80s with roles in some of the popular TV series of the time and in the teen-sensation flick Pretty in Pink. She has worked steadily ever since, in both mediums.

To date, Kate has starred alongside such talents as two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington (Malcolm X), James Spader (Pretty in Pink), Tony Curtis, Dick Van Dyke, Oscar-nominees Holly Hunter (Saving Grace), and Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell on Battlestar Galactica.

Kate's extensive experience on the small screen has come in the form of recurring roles on Battlestar Galactica, Nash Bridges, L.A. Law, Hunter and Falcon Crest, as well as numerous guest appearances on other series. She has also starred in number of TV movies and miniseries.

Most recently Kate was seen on Bones, Heroes, Saving Grace, The Mentalist, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, and SyFy's Red Faction: Origins. She was also in the successful, big-screen Miley Cyrus-vehicle The Last Song.

Currently, Kate resides in Los Angeles and continues to pursue acting projects.
